Delmhorst In-Kiln
Delmhorst Kil-Mo-Trol

Track drying progress, identify problem areas in the kiln and determine end-point for shutdown.
KIL-MO-TROL is a probe-based system that measures the moisture content of timber during the drying process. Resistance probes or contact pins are located at various 'stations' throughout the timber packages to monitor shell and core or core only moisture content readings. This technique is proven for both hardwood and softwood drying, and can be used in any type of dry kiln, pre-dryer, or air drying operation.
Choose from two different systems:
- KIL-MO-TROL Plus--Operate this microcontroller-based data acquisition system as a stand-alone system or integrate with a host PC or PLC-based kiln control system
- Basic KIL-MO-TROL--Connect a rotary switch box to any Delmhorst Moisture Meter for manual recording of moisture content readings

KIL-MO-TROL PLUS--the latest and most advanced in-kiln monitoring system, offers these outstanding features:
Modular design:
- Interchangeable and removable components for easy upgrading, expansion and maintenance
- Up to (256) moisture content probes – user assignable to a maximum of 16 individual kilns
Configuration flexibility:
- Allows the user to define number of stations per kiln
- User configures stations for core only or core and shell measurements
- Species, temperature and pin corrections are made on a 'per station' or 'per kiln' basis
- Can operate as a stand-alone system, or integrated with a host PC or PLC-based kiln control system
Valuable information:
- Statistical processing – average, standard deviation, coefficient of variation and high and low readings
- Each reading contains time and date stamp, cycle, kiln and station identification
- All data is battery backed for protection during power failures
User Friendly:
- A lighted 16X2 LCD dot matrix display, keypad, and menu driven functions provide intuitive user interface
- All user settings are stored in non-volatile memory, so they are retained even when power is shut off
Each K-1100 central control unit includes the processor, (1) PAM probe array module, and power supply. One PAM-1 accommodates up to 16 probes, allowing you to measure (8) shell and core stations or (16) core only stations.
For additional probe capacity, order (1) EP-1 extension package plus the number of PAM-1 required for your particular installation. Each EP-1 can accommodate up to (4) PAM-1.
The number of cables and contact pins required are determined by your kiln dimensions and layout.
BASIC KIL-MO-TROL
An economic system that offers the benefits of shell/core monitoring without the automated data collection features of the KIL-MO-TROL PLUS.
Connect any Delmhorst Moisture Meter to the SS-12 Station Selector to record moisture content readings at each station. The SS-12 can accommodate up to 12 stations, shell and core, or 24 stations, core only.
This system is ideal for DH kilns, small drying operations, or any application in which automated monitoring is not required.

Whichever system you chose, KIL-MO-TROL is...
Easy to Install:
- Mount the K-1100 or SS-12 outside of the kiln, usually in the control room.
- Run the pre-cut main cables from the K-1100 or SS-12 along the kiln walls to pre selected points to allow the monitoring of moisture content in all areas of the load. The K-1100 or SS-12 and main cables remain permanently installed.
- As timber is being loaded into the kiln, install the load cables in various boards where you want to measure moisture content during drying. Pre-drill holes using optional drill kit to insure proper positioning of the pins.
- Connect the load cables to the main cables. If using a basic system, connect a Delmhorst moisture meter to the SS-12 with the co-ax cable provided.
- Read shell and core moisture content of each board in which a station has been placed.
Easy to Order:
Just send us the following information:
- Sketch of your kilns indicating dimensions, control room and loading door locations. Also indicate desired location of monitor and type of material and kiln walls.
- Thickness of timber you typically dry. Designate if you require shell and core or core only readings.
- Also include any information specific to your installation or application that may be useful for us to know
